Another successful, busy day at the 2017 Girls Take Flight

  • by

Another successful and busy day at the Girls Take Flight event held at Oshawa Municipal Airport.
Organized every year by FCC member Lesley Page, 200 young girls go for a free flight in an aircraft and heard from 9 very dynamic speakers throughout the day.
The FCC99s and Enterprise Airlines are the key supporters of this event, but Porter Airlines is an incredible sponsor. They took an aircraft off-line for the day in support of Girls Take Flight, with an all-female crew, another 10 pilots and flight attendants, plus 50 young girls and parent/guardian as passengers.
There were more display booths than ever…from the 99s, Northern Lights Awards, Seneca, COPA, NavCanada, First Flight, Air Cadets and more.
We had representatives from Air Canada, West Jet and Porter in uniform and kept busy speaking with so many young girls who had never seen a female commercial pilot.
Michael Martin, of the Buttonville Flying Club, wrote a nice article about the day. They provided numerous volunteers and many of the pilots flying the girls. https://buttonvilleflyingclub.com/2017/04/29/girls-take-flight/
